Happy Boy

Happy Boy, Colored Pencils on Smooth Bristol

Happy Boy is a drawing of my German Shepherd dog when he was 6 months old. I've had dogs most of my life but Sirius has the longest tongue I've seen. The lolling tongue after a good round of exuberant play is a typical expression on his face.

Favorite Recipes

What is it about the rooster that so many people love this animal. Is it their country type charm or their eagerness to crow welcoming the new day. I love roosters. I was born in the year of the rooster according to Chinese astrology. Henry is the one rooster I have among the 12 hens in my backyard flock. He is one lucky guy surrounded by so much beauty, adoration and love. Although I notice he's a little hen pecked at times ;) Anyway, I'm compelled to create art illustrating this boisterous and cocky bird.

Out Of The Woods

Animals are one of my favorite art subjects. Lately, my focus has turned to drawing a bit more. I love the results I get using quality colored pencils. My finished work is sprayed to prevent smudging and lasting beauty. I recommend collectors of art drawings to frame the artwork under glass for added protection and a lifetime of enjoyment.

Snickers

I did a pencil drawing of my dearly departed dog, Snickers. As I was doing the drawing, I took images to show the progression from beginning to end.

After I make a general outline, I start working on the eyes. The eyes are important for me as it gives life to the drawing. When I have the eyes drawn in, I'm able to move to other areas to bring the piece together.

I love doing animal portraits. It's an emotional experience for me due to my love and respect for animal life. I think I've set the doves free by making Snickers' portrait.
